I hope sufferings surely features in the list of our wants you wanted to do away in any form. Imagine the world without suffering, how buoyant or jubilant our everyday life would be! But that’s not how it functions in the real world.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! We all suffer whether openly or secretly. We may not suffer today, but a time will come when we too will experience it. A time will also come when we’re free of our suffering.
You will have your definition of suffering. The general definition of suffering is bearing or undergoing pain, distress, or injury.
Let me simply define suffering as a lack of what we want; the list would be long, but at least one of it. When it takes over our living. One of our wants isn’t big.
Yet I did not stop there; it goes on extending itself, which eventually takes over us like a parasite.
The upside of suffering:
Many times, suffering is the pathway to success. Suffering turns our world over in a short period.
When we lose ourselves in the want to end suffering, we’re heading for a traumatic life. Bad health, no money, and an unbalanced state of mind are some of the examples.
When we suffer, we’re deprived of certain things in life which we hardly value before. Just for example is the joy of sleeping.
My tryst with suffering:
In my book Unconsumed; In His Abiding Grace, I have talked more about the joy of living in a time of suffering. The joy of intoxicated living, the joy of hallucination, the joy of uncertainty, the joy of pain, and many more.
Yes, we want the end to suffering. It’s hard to see people suffering in their normal life, on deathbed, mentally and physically.
I have seen people in several states. Yet I saw people smiling even in their unlikeliest situation; they knew they were not going to make it out of it. Yet they hold no grudge against anyone.
Resentment and suffering:
An insult at the most appropriate time, as if there is a good time for shaming someone based on their appearance, economic status, or ideology.
In this age, we have too many ways of living by ourselves in the bubble. Before we can even understand we tend to cause some kind of harm towards others, which results in suffering. So, it started at home just like everything.
I don’t know why you suffer. Any kind of suffering is hurtful. We lived with a heavy heart. Thus, we want an end to our suffering. People take their life into their own hands. Then things started to get worse. And for that, we long for abundant life.
Hope and faith amidst sufferings:
Several people knew the way out; more people need help depending on the way they suffer. We have witnessed organizations and people tirelessly working to help people who suffer.
If it is the hand of humans to eradicate suffering, we might have found a way to end suffering. Yet we are human; our thinking mind can go otherwise, like a wrongly programmed computer.
As we discussed sufferings come in different form. The way out is total dependent on God. Even if you do not believe in God, you’re still welcome to him whenever you felt helpless.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.’ Matt. 11:28-30 Cast all you anxiety on him.1 Peter 5:6-11
Adding to our suffering:
The human mind is competitive in its innate being resulting in competitive envy. It seems pure at first but soon filled with envy and malicious intention towards others. An idle did simply sit idle, however, its malicious contempt did roam around causing suffering to a person who is already suffering.
Sometimes, it’s the search or longing for abundant life itself over the cause of others that makes us suffer. We cannot find abundant life by ourselves, but we do develop a path to attain what we want.
Suffering to Abundant Living:
It is what we learned as the survival of the fittest. In the process, people suffer, and the country suffers. The power-holders did not intend to end this process. It’s just that many people are trapped in the ring of hell.
Our suffering is not going to end abruptly. We will doubt God; we will question God. People already have the notion of no God or a God who can solve all these sufferings.
No one has control over God; everything happens for a reason. It prepares us for abundant life.
