Here I will be using it to define another approach. But before that, the term connecting link in biology is mostly associated with an organism having characteristics of two different organisms. It represents both groups, e.g., Archaeopteryx is the connecting link between Reptiles and Aves. While there is a connecting link in the study of evolution, there is also a missing link.
Here, I’m not going to dig deep into the line of evolution or biology, but I wanted to focus on its transitional characteristics. In another way, and simply put, I have a hard task to put together when a certain of my website isn’t working or not connecting the page or post. Then, I seek help.
There is a connecting link and a missing link in all aspects of living – be it religion or social formation, even in the civilized world. We have come to an age where we want to prove our existence. In one way to reconnect the dots in our migration and how we become the worshipper of the living God.
In this radical age, we used Scientific Method, AI, and the like to find the missing link to support the connecting link of our so-called history. We wanted to go back and live in the pre-historic era, which many seem to appreciate. Let’s add here that we might be simply appreciating because we did not know it well.
Connecting link of Faith:
Once, we were lost, but we’re now found. Yet I’m afraid we might lose our trust, belief, and faith in the Faithful and Righteous Lord God. Again, taking my community, we were young in our faith – just a generation or two to know the unconditional love of God.
Many of us were satisfied with the blessings and the upliftment it has brought along with. Once we face difficulty and suffering, it is either a call to return to God, which sometimes ends up the opposite. To begin with, we have little or insufficient knowledge of the words of God. Thus, we keep swaying.
Joseph is the connecting link for the Hebrews in times of famine because of his faith in his God. “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt!…… now there has been famine in the land,..…. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. Genesis 45
Linking to the Future:
He became the connecting link between his father’s households and the generations to go on. Joseph even foresaw, in his faith, the day the Lord God shall lead them to the Promised Land.
There were many men and women of God who were used by God as the connection link in his plan of restoration of mankind. I cannot give all their stories here. Noah, Ruth, David, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, John the Baptist, Mary, the disciples or the King’s Men, Apostle Paul, and so on.
Many more sufferings and happiness are yet to come.
Connecting Link:
We can be the connecting link for the Lord to our children and grandchildren, connecting them with the word of God. I have seen people of other faith and beliefs guarding their families every morning and evening. They performed the necessary rituals to keep them safe and sound. They also keep away their unwanted spirits.
As a believer and children of the living God, many of us fail to do this in our families. We must pray and ask the spirit to guard them in every step and decision they take. When we’re together, we must teach them; when they go out from home, we must ask the Holy Spirit to guide them. Lest they perish on the way. This is one way to become the connecting link.
If we don’t know the way, we must seek help from God’s wisdom and knowledge. My mother doesn’t talk much, which I like about her. A father or mother may not say much, but a valuable word of advice and comfort speaks volumes.
The missing link:
Although there can’t be no missing link in the plan of God, there were certain hits and misses in the story of his people. It is interesting to note that the pain and suffering brought about by those people were plenty. Yet their sufferings turn their eyes, ears, minds, and hearts toward him. After a bout of disregard, they were straightened to follow the right path.
It’s just that we could be one of them, even though we might seem to contribute our best in building the next generation.
Many fathers at home, leaders in an organization, and the leaders who were supposed to lead the young ones on the right path were overcome by selfish ambitions. Their time was messed up in setting up a kind of royal family because you’re selfish, which is a way of destruction for the next generation.
Which link are You?
In the end, as a youngster, a person in the ministry, or just a normal guy, I have just one question: Do you want to be the missing link or the connecting for Christ Jesus? Just like me, you might not be active, but you somehow missed the good times to serve him full-time; I want to assure you that we still have time.
You and I can be the connecting link for our family, our church, and our society in the Lord. Yet we will not seek the credit. We will honor God in the first place! In good times and bad times, in war and peace, in sufferings and pain, we can be a connecting link for the Lord.
We can make a commitment to be the King’s men in the Kingdom of God until his return to take us home with him!
