When we wanted to give up; we’re really trying to live a life. We are measuring our life with every bit of measurement in every possible angle. Yet we measured our worth with the conclusion being self-driven.
There are times when we, actually, aren’t able to see the bright side of life. So, we’re ready to plunge more in the dark side of life. And it is not because we don’t value our life. The reasons may differ although:
Some wanted to make a fortune out of their life; while some wanted to live normal life without troubling nobody’s businesses. A life, simply troubling others like a parasite, as certain try-outs, and improvement wasn’t on the card soon, can be dispiriting.
The world’s not as we expected with several twist and turns. We valued our life so much that we wanted to make something out of it. And as we brush through the tides, we’re tempted to give up although the act of giving up doesn’t promise greater place.
We can somehow, and only at some level although inadvisable, give up on our dream job, dream marriage, dream home, dream treatment, and the likes, BUT not in living a life.
Our life’s precious – it’s God’s good gift to us. Our God will take it back when He feels like it; and it’s better to wait on Him. God has a plan for each life.
Take your Stand:
It’s been a while now since I wanted to put this out. It pained me to see few good people giving up so early in their life. Take your stand; and God will help you.
There are more refined scientific research and help available in today’s world. We valued them, and we must make use of them in the best possible ways. Yet there are certain words of God which forewarned us of the work of evil.
As I delivered a very short speech in the condolence meeting last week, these verses from the Bible struck my mind:
“Put the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:11-12)
Inside Our Own Cocoon:
There are certain obligations as a person – husband, wife, father, son, and daughter which we need to perform. And for many of us who are unable to perform such duties, as simple it might sound, it easily hurts the person.
Now, cocoon is for butterfly; not for human. Sometimes I wanted to fit-in inside the cocoon escaping from the world, but that’s just a wish. We need to live on with the tides even in our physical frailties. In reality, it’s impossible because we might not fly, as the butterfly did, once it gets out of the cocoon.
Inside the cocoon of our heart, we might rest for a while, but we are created to face the world. There’s none who could fully understand your delicate emotions and feeling except bringing it to Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to take control of your mind and heart so that you did not get lost in that moment. Don’t give up!
The LORD is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. (2 Chronicles 15:1&7)
Loneliness in Modern World:
The world’s on our finger tip, these days. We can view and see the world without going anywhere. It’s a gift of good technology and highly innovated inventions. While its purpose has been positive, it has waylaid our life in many ways. Yet with the indwelling Holy Spirit in us we can spend time with God. (Ephesians 1:7)
Social media platform and the likes gave us lots of updated information about the world, country, state, neighborhood, and childhood or simply friend circles. Sometimes it makes us realize what we lag behind. While I agree with the necessary upgrade of our knowledge, it should not, however, give us a bad impression of our present situation.
People are busy with their own life; and no one’s there to hear you out, which makes us feel lonely at times. Yet as person, and believer we should stand firm and submit our ways to the Lord. “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” (1 Cor. 16:13)
Unfulfilled Dream: The Feeling of Uselessness
All are a dreamer, in this world, I hope. We have a dream life, but not all our dreams are met. Detours are part of our life; yet detours are not meant to take away our will of living. Our promising career might face a downfall, and things don’t dimply turnaround as expected. We felt useless; simply a burden to others.
I’ve been through that road, I could say. And there are times I wanted to give up too. When you’re financially very weak, no status, no job, simply lying in hospital bed with no or very less control of body and thoughts, you don’t highly value yourself.
But you are valuable in the eyes of the Lord. We are more valuable than the sparrows, as God did not allow a single sparrow to fall outside His care. (Matthew 10: 29-33)
When our relatives, family members, and well-wishers tried cheering you up, there are time when it seems like a blurry noise from afar which you enjoyed longtime ago. However, it’s better to wait on the Lord, ask for His presence, and do nothing out of our extreme hopelessness and abject distress.
‘Always take delight in the ways of the Lord’, my Grandfather always sounded as King David did in his Psalms: “The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.” (Psalms:24)
When You Can’t See a Way Out:
Many times in our living we’re unable to see the way out, which sometimes prompts us to give up, but not always. The reasons might be aplenty. We might be given a choice, which in the best of knowledge and ability doesn’t suit at all.
There are times our helps might come in many ways – people trying to uplift you, caring you in your certain ways. Still, you can’t take advantage of it as if it’s never enough. The expectations are high; you know you can reach for it but it somehow happen that way.
But don’t give up; keep trying. The Lord will strengthen you. And in His appropriate timing all things will be made complete. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
As my ending note, I wanted to assure you that nothing’s impossible with God: “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)
Let’s try to stay strong throughout our pilgrimage for the glory of the Lord. Wait on the Lord and His handiwork.
In our sufferings and pains, troubles and wearies, we’d see more of Him and His goodness!
One day, there will be an end to everything; and a beginning to everything. So, don’t give up; don’t give in!
