Living In His Presence

We did a role reversal again, this morning, when my son is heading out for school. My son vouched for the providence of God we asked every morning. Since he knows daddy’s condition, he prayed for the abiding presence of God in our everyday living.

Much of the words and ideas of talking to God were inherited from our parents, as I also did. Yet what touches my heart today was my son claiming for the presence of God in my time alone at home. I don’t need to reiterate to him again why daddy did not work in an office for now.

“Dear God, today daddy would be alone at home for a while. Please be with him,” he said asking for God’s presence hugging me while concluding his prayer in Jesus’ name.

How the Lord speaks is wonderful; today it is through my son! I don’t know whether you’d agree with me. But I’m glad all our situations, inefficient and our rat run, was used in this way.

In the presence of Daddy at home
Presence: In each other’s arm

Without the presence of God in our everyday living, we can be oppressed by the evil, depressed, and unable to enjoy the foggy reek of hopelessness beyond the present situation. And that’s what the evil wanted in our life; despising the comfort of God’s abiding love and care.

Many times I received uncomfortable queries of what I really did at home, everywhere, even in the gatherings of fellow Christians. One thing is certain, I must be leading a boring life, and sometimes very depressed. Well, I did because I’m not perfect. I find it hard to control my thinking process, which I really should at least for my health reasons.

Now, just as my children prayed for me, so that no seizures would occur again, there are times I received the presence of God with an open heart. By saying that, God is always with us; He abides in us, but not when we’re stubborn; reeling in the stronghold of our self-pride or self-pity.

It is a great experience when tears welled up reading the words of God; singing praise although I’m by myself during the day. Here, let me admit again, this is not the life I’m longing or asking for; but everything fell this way, for the goodness of us. (Romans 8:28-29)

Presence of God in Mundane Living:

Mundane living is the perception of others in our lives. It is far worse when we perceive our live is stuck in mundane situations. It is difficult times; nothing exciting is happening where we tend to belittle our existence.

This situation last longer than any time of our life put together. A night in mundane situation of our physical and spiritual life is longer than a year. God seems to forsake us; nothing of good music can be heard; except for bygone sound of our lost happiness.

Yet in the love of God, through his abiding grace and mercies, we will overcome this situation. When the Lord shall set us free nothing in the world would stop us again from the promise of contentment and happiness.

The disciples did not really believe he would die: He is God. Somehow, he’ll make a way to give it a missed yet fulfilling his purpose of coming. Yet the word of Jesus Christ never fails. He did everything to pull us out of our piteous living.

Living in His Presence:

Living in the presence of God guaranteed contentment and happiness when we see things in his ways. Yet it’s an arduous task to take step ahead for him yet. Still, people give their everything to get the presence of God in their lives.

Subjecting to God’s authority in a world where can voice our concerns because of the liberty we enjoyed is always hard to start. Why is there the need for God when we can live a life just following the nature, without destination, many people had asked.

Yet there are times in our life when we longed for the presence of God; if not now for you, the time is likely to come. We can take time out of our busy schedule and think about it for a while. In our busy life, we possibly have no time, or very less time for God, which I’ve experienced it too.

Presence of a Friend:

My child, in his prayer, was asking God to be my friend so that loneliness would not consume me. For, he knows, and I taught him, Jesus Christ is our Savior humbling himself to be friend of ours. As we did talked to friends, we can talk to Jesus; and if we have time we’d hear the answer as well.

Sometimes, we may looked a fool talking, mumbling, and whispering to God in the form of questions, praise, thank you notes when we’re alone. But our God listens to the good and bad analysis of our situation we have made patiently.

In that way, my God is my friend; the best friend of all. When I’m depressed; I told him straightaway because He knows how to deal with me, and better still He wouldn’t let anyone know. My secrets are safe in His hands unless He wanted to let it out for His glory.

There are times, too, where I wanted to confront him with respect though: When I’m in too much pain, when I wanted Him to work fast, or I wanted Him to make a way for me. Yet I would not test Him; for I know my friend is trustworthy.

Presence of God for Eternity:

We are welcomed in his presence for eternity, in the house of God, which Jesus Christ had prepared for us. He said, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:2-3)

In the place he had prepared for us, we will be spending time is His presence for eternity. As the apostle Paul had also quoted, “now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” (Romans 6:22)

It is a place where there’d be no sorrow and no tears. He will wipe away our tears. We will no longer shed tears for being lonely because the presence of God will fill the atmosphere with joy and happiness.
