Before we know, for some of us, we’re in the last second week of the first month of 2025. So now you know when I write this post.
Yet many things good and bad things; intolerable, undesirable, but necessary have taken place already. The fire, the snow, the foggy days, news of war and peace, elections, and many more.
Here, I’d use a ‘purpose lens,’ as in seeing through God’s eyes. However, this is not an easy task because we are incomparable to God—and we will never be one.
I’m quite upset at times. How things turned out was not as expected, but also because I can’t see its purpose yet.
Purpose of lens:
It was not abnormal, but how see things is not like before. My lens needs several checks or tests after my brain surgery. Then, it was all done before my first discharge from the hospital.
Several notes, about my eyesight, lens, pupil, limbs, and cognitive abilities working were written in the discharge summary. All seems fine.
Later on, my tryst with my eyesight can be quite disturbing as I’ve experienced several inconveniences in my daily life.
Physically, our lens helps us in determining the purpose of what we see. When we see something, we know its purpose. It hugely determines our next action.
Emotionally, it was no less different. But this time it involves processing until it reflects our feelings and perspective of what we went through.
Spiritually, our lens examined the current challenges and circumstances to determine its purpose.
Purpose lens:
Purpose lens in the spiritual aspect with the help of the holy spirit brings us comfort at times and also helps us recognize the power of purpose.
The correct lens at the correct time helps us improve our life in our physical and spiritual journey of life.
I’m not strong enough to see everything through the purpose lens of God. However, I pray that I may not remain idle nor swayed from seeing the purpose of my suffering.
The focus of lens:
Now the important question is – where is your focus? Every believer has to face this question. The answer lies in our connection and unity with God’s abiding grace.
A believer’s life is not always a joyride, but finding the purpose in difficult times. If someone told me to come to Christ for physical blessings, healing, and comfort only, then I may have gone astray.
However, through the lens of Jesus, in his grace, we see hope. It renewed our spirit and life from time to time. We did not simply become selfish but focused on God so that his love may shine outward through us.
Positive lens:
The apostle Paul was in chains when he wrote to the Philippians. He wants them to know that what has happened to him will serve, outwardly, to advance the gospel of Christ.
He did not look inwardly but knew through the purpose lens that his chains be a tool for God. His ambition is not filled with selfishness but for the larger scale of God’s purpose.
His positive attitude let him rejoice in the Lord.
“The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this, I rejoice.
Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.” Phil. 1:18-19
Through the purpose lens:
Through the purpose lens of God, the apostle Paul knew that through his chains he could bring the gospel of Christ to many people in the prison during his difficult times. Phil. 1:12-18
Thus, it is important for us too to see our circumstances and reshape our perspective through the purpose lens of God throughout the coming year and as long as we live. We must our lens with God’s word from time to time.
In the end, let us remove self-focus, and realize the need for a God-centered perspective. This will help us to evaluate our focus and our purpose of existence here on earth.
