Put up the bright light
In the dark of the night
You are my beacon of light
I’d choose to stay with you
Be in the presence of you
Shining brighter for you
Make me the bearer of light
Put up the light through me.
Light is a source of energy. There is no light in the beginning; ‘and there was light,’ it was recorded. When there is light, it gives birth to a new creation.
Much before it was first studied, light was always there.
It’s not just Thomas Edison’s light bulb that lights up the world. Light is studied with more discoveries and its variations to boost our living. James Webb’s space telescope gives us a bigger picture of light in the universe.
Put up the light; it’s a festive session now.
Here in our country, we’ve just celebrated the festival of lights -Diwali a few weeks ago. The decorations and the pompous lighting of the buildings and malls along with firecrackers marked the celebration.
Everyone is delighted at the sight of different shades of light. As for me, I didn’t appreciate it much due to personal reasons. However, I enjoyed being in the light, with the shades in my eyes.
The Light of the World:
Jesus is the light of the world. “I am the light of the world. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.” John 8:12
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him, there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 John 1:5-6
This Christmas let us let the light conquer the dark side of us, spiritually.
You are the light of the world:
Jesus used the term “light of the world” to refer to his disciples. They are to spread the light and let shine bright. Light cannot be hidden.
In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus compares his followers to light saying, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Light is living:
Light is living’ it is essential for life. Jesus is the giver of life to the dead because of their sins. It is the light that is designed to help people see in dark places. Christ’s words and actions showed the true nature of the world around Him.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. Isaiah 9:2
The light has the capability to change its surroundings. It is a beacon of hope for the hopeless; a light of judgment for the pride and hidden sinners.
Many people in this world, hate the light. We enjoy living in the dark on our own. No one wants our dark side to be seen. However, Jesus has come to lift the veil giving light to all. God is accessible to us all for now and forever.
The light is our guide:
The word of God is a lamp unto my feet. I may falter if I try to walk on my own. Yet I will rise again in his mercy and grace. Psalms 119:105
These are not just kind words. Those who are in the real conditions, yearning for the light, they saw the light. The light of the Lord is the counsel of the wise mind. It gives peace to the heart and comforts the spirit in troubled times.
It is this light which guides us to salvation. And salvation leads us to the abiding presence of God. Many saw the light but ignored it for life. They will be blinded forever!
Be the Light:
We already read that Jesus referred his disciples and the light of the world. We can be the light if we’re not fully into the light.
Be the light. One can’t simply sit on the fence in this matter, it’s a good time to make decisions for your forever life. Let it be you amongst many that some other may see the light. Let the positive vibes flow on.
I’m a moody person, I can partly blame my brain surgery and all that. However, it is a wonder how some people saw the light in me even when I thought I possessed none or too little. You too can be one. Be the light and let it shine among men and women.
Put up the Light:
Put up the light this Christmas in your heart. You decorated your Christmas trees, your home, your sitting room. Eventually, people will see it. However, if they could see or sense the light that abides in you, it would attract people for good.
Put up the light; shred the darkness inside and in you. It will give peace and also give hope to someone who sees it. The light is essential for a living soul.
And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. Rev.22:5
From our family, we wish you good tidings and blessings from the bottom of our hearts!
Merry Christmas 2024!
And Happy New Year 2025!
