It was the last week of October 2021, on the road, while driving, I could sense the aura of my chronic disorder running through me wildly.
To the best of my ability, I tried pulling up my vehicle on the roadside. Somehow, we ended up getting stuck in the evening traffic rush. So, we stopped there at the intersection of heavy traffic.
If my SOS pill works, it would be a short rest on the roadside before we ride home again. Yet it is not meant to be, on that day.
Policemen came to enquire us because we’re partially blocking the flow of traffic. We stopped there as I have taken my SOS pill hoping it would work fast. But it didn’t. We were not going any further although I wanted to, it’s dangerous right now. We know we had to do something.
So, we prayed.
The Stranger to our Rescue:
A few minutes later, an unknown man and his friend ask whether we need help.
We never met them nor knew them. I am fortunate that my situation did not turn bad enough to be rushed to the ER. They enquired about our immediate need.
I, no my wife actually, asked the good Samaritan to take us home taking the wheel for me. I shifted to the passenger seat pulling up all the energy left in me.
He took the wheel for me and my family.
He was a God-sent angel to us on that crowded road.
The man took us home. We offered him a small amount of money to show our appreciation. Yet he refused, stating that he was happy to help. It shows he was not an opportunist who extort money from people in distress.
The man told us, “I saw your children standing on the roadside in the sun. It was extremely hot outside your car. There could be many reasons – either you’re disciplining them or you’re in deep trouble. and I was wondering why!” We were low on gasoline and I also needed more air. So, we open the rear doors to let the children out, so they might be less panicked.
Then as he saw me fainting on the driver’s seat, he knew what went wrong.
We did not speak the same language, most likely different believe in God too, as we’re living far away from our hometown due to our work. Still, his compassion was way larger than mine.
May God bless him abundantly!
Oh! and we forgot to ask his name nor did we have a picture of him. I’m half-awake when we reached home.
In my subconscious state, I heard my wife telling him we’re ready to help if he needs help.
‘I’m not doing this for any favour,’ said he as he thinly vanished into the dusk, as darkness began to set in. We did not see him again. Maybe we will, or maybe not. It’s part of our journey on this earth.
That night we thank God for him. We prayed for this Good Samaritan so that he will be blessed and guided by God in his life.
Gettting Stuck or Robbed in life:
Many times, we get stuck in the middle of the road in our pilgrimage. We felt robbed because our plans and dream life seems far away in life. Yet he will get us home. We don’t know how! Jesus takes the wheel.
While unlocking the Parables in one of the courses I attended, the Good Samaritan is the unlikely saviour depicting the narrator Jesus, who would complete his mission by nurturing and subsequently taking us home with him.
In the parable, although the injured man was left alone until the good Samaritan or the stranger found him and nursed him. The good Samaritan paid for the wounded person so that the innkeeper look after him while he went to the city. He left him with another stranger to take care of the injured man whom the Samaritan promise to pay his expenses upon his return from the city.
The waiting period here is before the end of the sufferings and pain, becomes the dark night in our life as well. Still, we have the Holy Spirit with us before the return of Christ.
Jesus the Stranger:
For many, during his time on earth and till today Jesus Christ is a stranger to many. Jesus was born a stranger in Bethlehem. He is just a child of the carpenter, as they see it. But he is more than that. not accepted in Nazareth- the place he grew up. Luke 4:14-30 He worked as a stranger but close to those who seek him in their hearts. Those whose hearts are set free by his sacrificial work get to know him.
For many of us who experience helplessness in our journey of life, Jesus is asking, “What do you want me to do for you?” Mark 10:51 He is here with us and we’re no more strangers rather his son by the grace of God, which unveiled our access to him. We are now very much close to him. Our struggles further make us closer to him in life.
Who is Jesus to you?
I could speak highly of the stranger who rescued us, but not as high as our true Savior. Yet my gratitude to him and his friend is beyond words. Here is a question I wanted to raise here. Answer it in your heart. Who is Jesus to you? A stranger, maybe…
Now, we may get stuck on our way but he will meet us there. Since a decade ago, I felt stuck in my earthly journey. There might be some of you – but in different ways. I am glad to meet many of you since I started writing my blog and putting them into books.
Our prayers are answered but not a gamechanger in our journey in a very big way although he sustains our life. For me, contentment is the most difficult state of my mind. It’s hard to accept it although I have no good to show before him. God has his purpose!
The stranger on the wheel:
He meets me many times in different ways in my most difficult time. If not, I could have lost myself already on the journey. He is no stranger to me anymore. And, I am no stranger to him by his grace
If it’s his grace I will be free of my suffering to physically fly again in his name. But if it’s for his glory it is worth the suffering.
I am not left behind. The angels rescued me many times before. He leads me beside the still waters at his cost. Jesus takes the wheel for me now.
I am rescued
I trusted in his words
I know he will take us home!
One day he will take us home!
