The passion of love

Would you suffer the agony of pain for no reason? Imagine your created beings do not pay heed to you. So, you have to lay your life for them.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

The only way to reconcile with them forever. Yet not every single soul who heard about the sacrificial love may head back to you. Would it be worth it?

Some weeks ago, I read about an incident in which a man succumbed to love, greed, and jealousy. This caused him to come to the point of death in the name of love. Unreciprocated love, not respecting the choice of others, is dangerous.

The passionate love of God:

The passionate love of God cannot be compared to any kind of love we’ve seen so far on this earth.

Here, the greatest love of all time does not nullify the free choice, decision of the created beings.

This love can also be referred to as compassionate love. Jesus pities our suffering souls, sympathizes with our suffering, and understands our pain by going through the pain of the people who are suffering.

God desires to mend the broken relationship, out of grace and mercy, led him to suffer till the crucifixion of Christ.

The Passion Week:

The Passion Week commemorates the events leading up to the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, focusing on his suffering and sacrifice.

Reigniting the passion of love, bond, and relationship with mankind is the ultimate goal of the  Passion Week.

It is quite different from the passionate love we wanted in the realm of the physical world.

As you can see, the focus is not on the present suffering but to save, let them know, and build a bridge to connect with his created beings.

Now is a great time to reflect on the love of Jesus; his sacrifice for humanity to set us free from the clutch of sin and the evil one.

Focus of the passion week:

The week is a time for reflection on Jesus’s passion; his suffering, and his ultimate sacrifice for humanity. In the New Testament, passion derived from the Greek word ‘pascho’ is used here.

It was during this week that Jesus spent a great time with his disciples. He was getting closer, foretelling them what would happen next. The real focus of the Passion Week is on you and me.

Here, I will not dig deep into the given name of the Days of the Passion Week as observed by us. I would rather focus on the love that sets us free.

It is the love so great to the point of death; a shameful death in the eyes of man. However, the death on Calvary’s Cross is when victory is proclaimed.

Yet the message of the cross is foolishness for the perishing, and it is the power of God to us who are being saved. 1 Cor. 1:18

The evil one will never measure up to the extent of this love called Agape love.

Agape love is selfless, unconditional, and universal love. It extends to all kinds of people irrespective of their background. The one who reciprocates this love of God will have eternal life.

The agony of love:

If you’ve been in love, you’ll somehow understand the agony of love. It is in a way related to the passion of love. Passion is to experience, undergo, and suffer, in other words.

Jesus took Peter, James, and John to the garden of Gethsemane. And, he began to be deeply distressed and troubled.

“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. This intense physical and mental suffering, or the agony of pain, is caused by the love he has for mankind. Mark 14:33-34

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22:42-44

If we’re passionate about our love for Christ, there will also be a time for us to suffer, which we should understand. I’m not glorifying suffering, however it makes us to fully rely on him. In other words, it’s a surrender we did not experience in normal life. We know we can love him because he first loved us!

The compassion of Christ:

The passionate love, the suffering, experiencing the torment of physical and mental being, and the agony of love all constitute the elements or happenings of the Passion Week.

This love is how the compassion of Christ can be understood. We did not know it in its complexity, but the Holy Spirit will guide us to understand the mystery of this great, passionate love.

“If the Son (of God) sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”1 Pet. 2:24

Once we believe we are saved and are given the spiritual wisdom and insight, we will grow in the knowledge of God and his true love.
