I know of a young boy who dreams high for his life. He loves to pursue his dream not knowing somewhere in his path he wouldn’t be able to use his potential to reach his dream.
Not being unable to use our full potential due to certain unavoidable circumstances is a sad story. However, the privilege of living close to our potential is more than an advantage.
The young boy loved to top his small class during high school. He would give his everything – his full potential to be on that level. It is his first challenge in life to get a valuable education. However, that doesn’t guarantee success for his future dream.
Despite the lack of funds, he was blessed to go to University. It’s his God who provides. With a piece of cotton in his pocket for every good and bad day, he went. He could see his dream are nearer than before.
Then he had to visit one clinic to another. Further, frequented the large hospital in town due to his illness as well. Yet he dreamed on and on….. grabbing all he could to achieve his goal. He was somehow confident when he landed his first regular job in a Multinational company because he know this could be the beginning of his career.
In the least, he now had his own money to visit the hospital!
Still, he knew there were many things yet to be achieved. The hunger to achieve bigger things in life keeps him going. Yet he shouldn’t get embroiled in greediness and societal-hierarchical status just for a show-off. The days were spent working and the night preparations for a more stable income.
Right here- right there he almost lose himself as he realised his secret desire was let gone by him!
Not Reaching his Potential:
Then, he secured a stable job yet the hunger for higher educational knowledge still remains. So, he pursued to explore himself along with working his day job. He found himself to be not reaching his potential yet.
On the contrary, he adjusted himself to the blessings of life around him which he needs to take care of.
And he still felt he was not reaching his potential. there are lots of things remaining in him although part of his brain has been trimmed for the betterment of his life. This makes him feel low in life and being getting moody, sometimes in his daily life.
Spiritual Potential:
The young man is joyful when he was spiritually uplifted. Spiritual thing is not for someone who exercises too much earthly knowledge. He had followed the footsteps of his parents and grandparents as much as he could. Alas! There’s an equivocal work of the evil spirit in those small outings he has had. It is his secret desire to serve the Lord, which he thinks he has missed greatly in life.
Spiritual potential needs to be sought from God. One must deny himself to follow Christ (see Matthew 16:24) with our full potential being revealed in us so that He is magnified more in our life.
Now, the spiritual potential is the POWER that worked in us according to what we received exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask and think. Ephesians 3:20-21
For now, I found myself to be not reaching my potential physically and spiritually. In this world, there’s more to achieving my dream by exercising my God-given potential than where I am right now.
However, my spiritual potential would depend on how I long for the spirit with an open heart so that my ways be directed in his will. Then, my soul and spirit shall rejoice in him forever and always through eternity.
Used Up- Potential:
Along the way, I have this feeling of being used up or not reaching my potential due to my circumstances. Yet it is also my adversity that stretched my potential, physically and spiritually. It’s always a privilege.
It is my dream and also my desperate wants to be used up my meagre talent, knowledge, and spiritual potential for the glory of the Lord before my earthly body will be put to rest.
