If you’re passing a glance at this post or if you’re spending a few minutes of your time reading it, it means you’re alive.
It feels good to be alive!
Some years back, before the emergence of Covid-19, I spent 44 days in the hospital which was followed by a series of week-long stays in the hospital.
During those days, I wanted to read out portions of the Scriptures that came to my mind but someone has to do it for me. Still, I’m alive and happy about my time there.
As I spent my time here, something is crawling up from my left cheek, I can feel it running along my frontotemporal area, it can last longer than expected at times. I know what’s going on.
It means I’m alive!
Once I accidentally touch a hot jar- my reflexes are good. My nerves are coordinating well. My brain is working. It knows where it is hurting and where the pain is. Not only that, it suggests my next step; either to use cold water or apply aloe vera.
I’m alive!
My eyes suggest something is wrong. I need to lie down for a while. Then my children might help me out getting my pill. I’m alive.
I’m alive. and I know it because I feel the pain and do something or most of the time wait till the pain subsides before making its way back sooner or later.
It is better than waking up in the ER, which by the grace of God becomes lesser and lesser. Anyway, that’s the experience that complete my chronic health condition.
However, these episodes remind me of being alive. There will be a time when I don’t feel physical pain anymore. It will mean two things – bidding goodbye to this earth and dwelling in the glorious presence of my Savior.
There are times we were spiritually weakened or pained because we felt the spiritual warfare is too much for us to face. Then recognizing our weakness is one important step for restoration. We wanted to grow strong, we’re spiritually alive.
Alive forever:
We were once spiritually dead but we’re rescued. Our broken relationship is mended, which is our biggest gift from above. John 3:16,5:24 We were lost, deemed to be doomed forever because of our sin. Our original sin leads us to more sins.
Yet the coming of the newborn baby in Bethlehem till his sacrificial work on Calvary’s cross gave us a new life. We are alive, but with physical death inevitable for now.
One must be alive in Spirit so that we remained connected with our Father who is God.
Remain alive:
For a believer, we simply can’t keep on a stunted growth. We are to grow spiritually as we do grow physically or in earthly wisdom.
Firstly, we have to remain alive in the spirit. The spirit inside us must get its space to grow. In this way, we will live in his ways just as the Savior has wanted us to be.
Secondly, it will mean we are walking on the right path preparing for eternal life bestowed upon us.
Happy to be alive:
Looking back, broadly for the last decade and the ongoing pandemic I am happy to be alive. This year has been a rough year for all of us. Even more so for some of us who are affected directly by the pandemic.
And with me being prone to an unwanted episode of mild to severe attack due to my chronic neurological disorder, I’m happy to be alive
I will number my days [Psalms 90:12] while counting my blessings one by one without which my mind won’t be contented. Even in the darkest hour, I’m happy to be alive.
With this note, I would like to sign out this year 2021 and welcome the New year 2022 thankful for being alive by the grace of God.
Let’s hope to work more, create more happy memories, spread the Word and happiness, holding onto what we have in the next year 2022.
Let us keep our hope alive in Christ Jesus.
