Highly favored

No one wants to be the least favorite. Favoritism is not a practice to be upheld either way. Yet we often find ourselves stumbling in the midst of it.

Today, I would like to highlight two people who find favor in the eyes of the Lord God. They were not exceptional, but must be a person like us. Their faith, longing, ability, and courage do not go in vain before the Almighty God.

Find favor -1

Now one was that Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. Genesis 6:8

The preceding verses were filled with the wickedness of the human race and their inclination towards evil. It even mentioned; that the LORD regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

Noah’s introduction reads: Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. The Lord set up a covenant with him. He built an ark as commanded by the Lord before the great flood.

Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.

But sadly enough, this act of refining was not enough to save the world. The inherent evil remains in the world.

Finding favor-2

The Second was Mary who has found favor with God. Luke 1: 30

Her introduction may read: Mary lives in Nazareth, a town in Galilee, she was a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

Through the years of what has been referred to as the silent period, man’s longing for the word of God would have no bounds.

She was chosen to be the one whom the servant of God would directly appear to her. The message was strong for a woman to carry if not in faith. Her faith turns into obedience.

In her obedience, she became the useful vessel for God to give the living water back to the thirsty souls. She is the mother of Jesus of the Nazarene the son of God who sacrificed himself for all sinners at once.

Anyone who repents, confesses their sin, and believes in him that he is Lord and raised again on the third day His pure blood was a sacrifice for mankind – it is complete, and nothing more is needed to redeem us from sin.

Favored child of God

The third was, you and me finding favor despite our sin because we believe in the sacrificial work of salvation on Calvary’s Cross. When we keep holding onto our faith despite the circumstances we face, I believe, we too are finding favor in the eyes of the Lord.

Before the Cross, sacrifice on the blood of animals was a way to seek the favor and forgiveness of the Lord God. But now, the blood of Christ on the cross is sufficient for all humankind.

We become the children of God, no more perishing, but a citizen of the kingdom of God Most High!

In conclusion, we are all God’s favorite. We are created in his image, don’t let someone spoil you. Value your worth!

This Christmas I pray we find favor in the eyes of the Lord – the way we celebrate, enjoying our lives in days to come.
