The festival of light in my country has just been celebrated. Now, it is time for another festival of light that is around the corner. If God’s willing we will be able to celebrate the coming festival as well. I don’t need to be specific about the festivals I’m mentioning here. However, you will get to know about it if you go on.
Anyways, human minds have been encapsulated by the ideology of light, in other words, got enlightened. We wanted to get enlightened, mostly among the first to find out so that we may hide or shine among men. How corrupted our wants made us!
Some of the lush green trees would be cut down for decorations, and the smell of plastic mistletoes and materials for decorative items would soon fill the market. And, they would eventually intrude into our home.
While some of us would be busy studying the scripture; there would be a good number of people who enjoyed the festivity feel of the season. It is a good feeling; a positive vibe flowing in us. Whatever it may take if we were not in a war-torn region, we would see the light of many colors. If so, where does the light takes us, or will lead us?
The season would remind the melancholic and the feeling of loneliness in the heart of some people. In the same way, it will also remind us of the living hope we had through the light dwelling within and with us.
The Light of the World:
When the time is right the word has become flesh with the grace descending from above. It is in this abiding grace we see the light. The light will divide the people of the earth in two. We can’t simply be in the middle of the light and darkness.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Jesus declared. John 8:12
The testimony of Jesus created a massive dispute between the religious leaders. They do not know what he is talking about nor who he claimed his father was.
This declaration becomes the biggest ‘Dispute Over Who Jesus Is,‘ until today. Yet those who seek him saw him through the light very clearly. It is as simple as that but very worthy for eternity. The dispute itself is resolved in the same chapter. Those who have the desire will be led to find the truth.
The Word is the Light:
The message is the word becoming the light of the world. The light is our wonderful counselor. When there is light; there can be no darkness. Darkness is the enemy of light. If someone is not in the light, he or she will not understand the word. The word is a mystery, a dispute that can be known with the help of the Holy Spirit.
The scripture verse here is self-explanatory; And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. (darkness was deep over the surface, which requires light, light and darkness cannot be together) Genesis 1:3-4 with my emphasis added.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalms 119:105 Those who love to dwell in the word of God always remain delighted. It is I, and if I may include it is WE who hate the light; for the fear of getting exposed!
Deviating from the Light:
The light is our first love. I have written about my tryst with scarlet red light. Now we may retrospect where are we leaning towards in our journey for Christ. This section is especially for believers. We tend to deviate from the path shown by the light.
I’m afraid this verse from the scripture would apply to us too, which is: “You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans which I also hate.” Revelation 2:3-6
The Light is for All:
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.” I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Luke 2:8-11 The light is our joy, victory, our strength, and comfort. We should not be afraid of it but abide by the power of the light.
If you marked the word, ‘the glory of the Lord shone around them,’ it is the light that shows the way to the Savior even to people who were not in the comfort of their home when the Lord has done a great thing for mankind. We’re precious irrespective of work, kind, creed, and culture.
May we celebrate the light of life in Christ Jesus! Merry Christmas!
