It’s a good practice to make a New Year Resolution, let me begin with it. The new Sun, although the same celestial body is rising on the horizon gives hope to everyone despite their situation. But not every resolution get fulfilled as the days of the New Year passed by.
During my long hospital stay, I remember asking for the date and time of the day. It is because in my semiconscious state or under the influence of the medication I get lost in the folds of the day. There is hope, somehow, that a new day would bring something along. One day after another, if it ends well, is nearing discharge from the hospital.
Coming back to the New Year Resolution, the renewed feeling of hope and the mystery of the coming year brings hope to certain people. As we’re into new days flipping over the pages of the calendar, we hope to spend the whole year again whatever the days might bring along.
Some of us make a list dividing the months into quarters or half or any set-piece according to which we plan to execute and fulfilled our plans for the year. It is always a good practice to make plans although God’s plans are higher than us. We should accept also that we are surviving under a Higher Authority.
The Resolutions:
At some point in the year and our living, we’ll look back at our resolutions and realized we need to do more in regards to it.
The resolution can be as simple as, “I’ll avoid pouting,” which by the way is a difficult task for me. You may smile with me here. It’s not only for children if you may realize.
“I’ll eat right or I’ll eat well,” isn’t a simple task either!
On the bigger resolution, you might resolute to buy a new house with more savings.
A silent, abstract or obvious resolution, depending on your status, would be to get married as you’re in the marriageable age now.
For some, it would be to attend seminaries or universities for higher knowledge in the subject matter that you’re deeply interested in. And also seeing as the stepping stone for the career you long for.
Unresolved Resolutions:
For me, as the days passed by without a gentle reminder in the form of pain and the undescribable after-effect of medicine and the treatment due to my chronic sickness, I wanted to work closer to the way and purpose of my living here on earth. I don’t want to go back without fulfilling my purpose even though it might be meager in comparison to others.
As a blogger and writer, I also made a plan for the tendency and rate of my post in my blog and the number of books I’d try and publish in the coming year along with my desired months or period of the year.
I also resolved to express myself diligently without storing my timely vexation or exasperation to myself. However, it remains unresolved although I’m learning to cope with it.
Our Unresolved Resolution should not initiate negative vibes in us but it should serves as a reminder of our dependence on the Higher Authority according to which we must live and abide in him.
To take note of it:
Here I cannot lists out all the possible New Year resolutions as we’re living in more than a different geographical area with different mindsets and our actions fuelled by the occurrences and happening nearby us.
However, a resolution not to hurt or harm the self – physically and emotionally, must be our utmost priority as we preserved our God-given body, mind, and soul.
Secondly, a resolution “not to harm or hurt others,” emotionally and physically would be our first step to loving our neighbors.
At the end of the year, we’ll count the unresolved resolutions together again here, I hope,by God’s abiding grace. And by that time we’ll know some of the mystery of the unresolved resolution, which unnecessary works we try to accomplish but doesn’t work.
In the end, we’ll face all kinds of storms in every season of the year and realized some of them turn out for the good of us as well!
Amen, brother Thuam. Blessings and peace to you and your family!
Same to you Brother, Ryan. It’s good to hear from you. Blessings to you and your family in Jesus name! Amen
