38 Years of Hope

Did you ever lose hope
As you sat there unmoved?
You saw people healed;
You never get a chance.
Do you not want to give up
Or are you not able to?
Does he care for you?

You saw the pool nearby you
Does God makes sense to you
Through the days of your hope
Yet you keep clinging onto hope
It’s so near yet so far from you
Are your hope not fading?
Does he care for you?

Oh, here I am for his glory
Oh yes, he cares for me!
I’m getting up, I’m walking
Lifted from my bed of burden!
Jesus carried all my burden
I hope he’d passed by again
He’s still working on me
***
Do you want to be made well?
At last, he was asked by Jesus
You’re very late, he didn’t vex!
****
“Sir, I have no man to put me into
The pool when the water stirred up;
but while I am coming,
another steps down before me.
Yet he said,
“Rise up take up your bed
And walk!”
{Alleluia}

The man at the Pool of Bethesda:

Few lines had detailed his condition: – Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. His hope, of not giving up is truly inspiring. For thirty-eight years he simply had no one to put him into the water when the water is stirred. John 5:1-15

For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. John 5:4

He had been in that condition for a long time, the Bible added. If you’ve been through hard times you’ll understand. A night in the hospital or even if we’re at home is long enough to get through in our dark days.

There is always this hope that the new sun will bring new hope if you’re in that condition. I’ve been there a lot and I also knew it but not more than you. Our way of suffering isn’t the same.

Waiting turn into hope:

Waiting for anything is a grueling thing for anyone in any condition. It makes us anxious. However, for this man to wait for 38 years must be in a total mess. He would want a normal life.

When the waiting turns into hope, it gives us the new strength to go on despite certain conditions of sickness although we might be lying for a long time. In my waiting period, the lame person reminds my wait isn’t that long yet. It’s just about 14 years only for now. And the first 1-2 years ended up while I thought it’s not a sickness that would hamper my living. However, it was more than that.

Certain days are there though when a night seems so long. Only hope gave us the reason not to give up that easily. And that hope gives us joy through the tears. Sometimes the tears become tears of joy although we might not be completely healed. As you know hope gives us the will to carry on.

The Living Hope:

There is nothing much to say if one has a limited power of mobility due to physical condition or limited ability. Yet there can be unlimited hope. A person with unlimited hope shall rise to carry their bed where they had been lying for many years.

Sometimes I regret taking up projects I couldn’t have asked for although I counted them as blessings. There were others better than me. Yet everything falls in line when you are with him.

Questions of Hope:

Should I be able to interview the man at the pool of Bethesda, there were many questions I want to ask him. I believed it would brighten my sight and renewed my strength to wait and have an undying hope on the Lord’s.

Please refer to the above short poem or line for that matter. I have talked with him in my mind.

“Do you want to be made well?” A question asked too late for him per my perspective. But if you’re to be part of the mission for the glory of the Lord, it’s never too late at any given time – even after 38-long-grueling-years!

In the Mission through Infirmity:

The mission is to reveal himself as the son of God, first. Then more importantly and final mission is to save, deliver, or rescue mankind from their sin.

Anyone can be part of the mission. However, our way of participating shall differ. There were certain men and women who followed him learning the teaching of him to pass onto others. They took part physically and mentally through their presence in following him.

On the contrary, there are some, who are weak, sinful, possessed, and sick – lame, blind, paralyzed in any way possible who were there for the glory of the Lord.

Hope turns into Joy:

Wherever or whatever you are, whenever you get ready for him he is ready to use you in his quest for good to triumph over evil. Keep holding onto the living hope.

All you need is an open heart, humility, and submission before him. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:10

Then, our hope shall turn into joy conflicting the world as it were alien to him. Psalms 23:6 But the goodness and mercy of the Lord shall follow me all the days of my life;
And, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen!
