It Will Become A Story To Tell

“It will become a good story to tell,” he said convincingly.

I waited for him to specify what the story would be.

“Our God will save us from pestilence, which we’re facing right now.”

“Oh, you’re right. It will become a good story in the future,” I replied.

In many series of our story time, we were talking about my childhood stories, Bible stories, and the work of God in the past and present. Some of the stories are personal experiences and collections of what my grandfather had taught me.

“You get it right, we will teach our children and grandchildren the presence of God in our lives in days to come. We will trust in the mighty hand of God and his angels will guard us.”

We nodded in agreement.

Then we talk a few more instances of what God has done for his people called in his name. It’s a very good way of comforting each other and bringing hope in our daily living under the Lock Down imposed by the government.

In the present scenario, to talk about the post-COVID-19 scenario seems absurd. The cases are still rising. I don’t find it easy to scan through the statistics of infection and mortality by this contagion. People in the past had suffered the same kind of deadly diseases, which swept away many lives of the living.

But in this millennium, time and century, how could this happen? Why are we so small a creature susceptible to the unseen microscopic virus? The lives of the professional front-liners such as the doctors, nurses, and paramilitary aren’t spared either.

A Glimpse of POST COVID-19 SCENARIO:

For him and me, to understand the few possible consequences of the COVID-19, we presented certain points to each other: (If God’s willing, we will talk more about it in days to come.) By the way, we’re into the Twelfth day of the 21 days Lock Down in our country, India.

First, there will be certain groups of religious communities stigmatized by this virus. They will be framed or even by their own partaking of something which is against the law of the state. It will become a golden opportunity for another who always wanted to turn them into dust.

Second, the virus would stigmatize certain races or ethnic group which would make their living harder. Some might find it hard to survive if they are in the smaller section of the ethnic groups. But it would be a rebuilding of a nation, which will create a new world order, politically.

Third, economic recession all over the world is sighted in the near future. The loan sharks are about to eat up small scale borrowers and financial institutions at the cost of people irrespective of their capacity to recover.

Fourth, some occult groups would be on the rise. Worshiping of anything that gives hope and good name is on the way. The so-called atheist may not recover if they survive the pandemic leading many to the pool of death.

Fifth, and most important, it will become an appropriate sifting process among the believers who are standing on the rock of salvation of Christ. This pandemic will prepare a pure heart who is ready for the Second Coming of Christ.

Sixth, there will be others who are still spewing venom in the least strength they had with them. They are likely to get blinded by their desires of surpassing the righteous and to remain in their earthly throne. Moreover, the dependency theory on the movement of celestial bodies may remain.

Seventh and lastly, there will be blessed people who realized the uselessness of earthly things – wealth and its alike. So, they will turn to God if they still have time.

These are a few of the lists we’ve made for us in the hope that we will still be living when the COVID -19 disappears from the face of the earth.

Many lives would be lost yet if it is not going to be our stairway to heaven, we will survive the pandemic. Many faithful believers would be the seed of the gospel in days to come.

In the end, we will call the Lord and he will answer us. And, it will be a story, a story of the goodness of God to tell it to generations to come. (Deuteronomy 11:1-7)

Psalms 23:1-4

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever
