When love is in the air there is an inexpressible sense of happiness or ecstasy in our hearts. Most of the time we lose control of ourselves getting carried away by it. Such is the power of love – its effect or after effect in our emotional being is undeniable.
We’re born to have emotions. Our emotions can fool us at times. There’s no shame in denying it. Yet we reasoned beyond emotions.
Now, love can happen anytime and anywhere. It might not necessarily happen in April. However, we still remember the major jolt to our life caused by what we called love. It can be romantic fantasies, which sometimes makes us take silly or folly steps, and the big realisation of the love of God.
There’s a road down there where our love is not reciprocated. The reasons vary from One, we being us in the wrong time and wrong place while proposing. Second, incoherently expressing ourselves. And third, God saving us from entangling our life with someone who’s not meant for us. Fourth, we wanted to stay faithful to our life partner whom we hadn’t met yet by going slow for now with prayer.
Yet the beauty of it is that we did not hang in there not recovering. I moved on! You moved on!
Finding Love:
Each person wanted to be loved despite their situation. And we all deserve a certain amount of love irrespective of circumstances we’ve been through. However, it is not easy when it comes to reality. An unreciprocated love, however big it may be, has no impact on the person who is loved.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 Love comes down among us with a proposal so big but needs to be reciprocated.
Throughout his life, short it may be, Jesus preached the love of God. Also bearing the sin of a man showing the way to atonement and giving his life on the cross laying open the greatest of all love to be reciprocated. It is love finding us. “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34
Boundless Love:
This love is beyond the measures of mankind. We’re so lost, at times we tend to downplay it. The blessing of reciprocating this love granted us citizenship in heaven.
It is this love that holds us in every situation of our journey. We find joy in this love which compares to none. When no one is with us, it is this love that touches our hearts. It fills our hearts with the song of praise in the middle of our struggle.
This love brings out the best in us – we are connected with God paving the way for the Lord to forgive our sin when we repent of it. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love… Neh 9:17b His love endures forever. The question is have you received the joy of this love. The timeline doesn’t matter. It can be in April, any month, anytime, and place.
Love is….
Now taking all these things in mind, I wanted you to read the nature of Agape Love as the Apostle Paul laid out to the Corinthians:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hope, always perseveres. Love never fails… 1 Cor. 13:4-8. The more it becomes personal the more our level of joy increases.
In a way, it exposed the iniquities of my heart. On the other hand, the beauty of it lies in the fact that it is this love I have received. We tend to remember when we first received the joy of this love. It is beyond comparison to the first love which cuts our hearts. The joy of this love gets renewed every day, every morning in his presence.
Missing the Love:
I called it ‘Love in April’ congruent to Good Friday falling in April in the calendar year. Many missed this love although they heard about it. For them, it is foolishness.
A love so big as this could not strike a chord in their heart. Their heart was hardened. We do not judge them – we’re also human. It is only the spirit who can melt their heart. Keep praying for them…pray on..without ceasing.
This love does not attract some, they were yet to experience this love. When our expectation is too big, our heart is unable to handle them. Thus only finding fault in this love. This love is for all. We will write, sing, and clap for the joy of it because God first loved us. It is good for a man not to turn his back towards this love.
