Overcoming Shortcomings And Incompleteness

As usual, when I’m submerged in a plethora of emotions due to auspicious and inauspicious circumstances, it’s not easy to find a suitable title to the running thoughts of mine. It reminds me of my shortcoming and incompleteness. Anyways, the possible title is given as above.

My next two posts, likely, would be on Christmas topics, which I would have shared to my father, should he’d be still around, but not. I decided that would take it easy on blogging as I need to take care of myself as well.

My health check up is due soon and my efforts, to the extent I can do from home, are not gaining momentum as of now. As for my writing and blog, I have been trying hard to maintain an accepted standard without inflicting myself stressful and finance cost, which neither brings forth an income for me.

Please remember I’m not seeking sympathy, but if anyone happens to be in this situation, I wanted to remind you that ‘God sees it all – he knows our insecurity and needs’. His purpose, when we understand, would truly be worth it I believed.

Grief: Our Shortcomings

Now, Grief is forever; it can become part of life, says most of the writers I come across. Grief is conjoined with love. It is not forever only when you find comfort in Jesus Christ. He is here to carry our sorrows with us. In his strength, we become spiritually and physically strong minded in any circumstances of life.

Grieving ends but it comes back, reminded by someone, seasons, date and time, happenings, sadness, happiness, sorrows, deep thinking of future, and many more. For some months and some place, weather conditions and seasonal changes can really weigh you down. Here, the last week of this month marked my father’s journey into eternity.

When it comes affiliated with several weaknesses of the body and mind, it’s hard to overcome. And for this I have Jesus, because for everything we have Jesus; in the moments of sadness and happiness. In the words of Jesus Christ, we overcome as mentioned in the Bible; we can rely on him.

Now in my days of confusion and my need for guidance, there are certain things or issues just a phone call to my dad would solve and comfort the mind. But now I can only seek comfort in the Resurrection of Christ, waiting for it to happen.

Calling Out to the Father:

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3)

My calls to my father in the last stages of his life is still ringing in my ear. If we did not talk of the love of God there’s hardly anything to say in the midst of terminal illness. Sometimes we’d simply hanged off our call saying you or we don’t seem to have more to say.

You have very less thing to say, we’d say as the illness progress. It’s true that there are times you don’t know which way to talk to a terminally sick parent, let me repeat. It’s hard to recall all the time we cannot spend together due to our limited financial and time frame.

At some level it is true: we live in a different place with different people and friends and or needs. I remember myself dialing his phone numbers just to check who’d receive it. But in the comfort of the Holy Spirit I can overcome it. Yet I still remember his Cell Number without phone book.

Here are two comforting verses I stumble upon in the spirit:

The Lord (our God) is close to the brokenhearted and close to those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalms 34:18,22b) And no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

“I am the resurrection and the life, (said Jesus Christ). The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and the one whoever lives by believing in me will never die. (John 11:25, 26)

Abiding Presence of the Holy Spirit:

With the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit, the One who abides in us, we can abide in him for every circumstances and challenges.

Changing season and festivities along with the cold made us melancholic these days. And it’s always better to keep it to ourselves if we don’t meet face to face. Typing and messaging can be misread with different tune or tonality.

Those who are gone; they are not coming back anyway, it just a matter of time we meet them. Yet there are things to accomplished and taken care off before that time, for the family and for God, looking at the brighter side of life.

The prayer of Jesus for his disciples in John 17, our last conversation with my father, and the living hope comfort our mind.

I truly believe these phases of our loneliness and the feeling of uselessness would transform us into someone usable for God administering His words to other people.

Overcoming Shortcomings and Incompleteness:

We all have shortcomings and incompleteness. Yet when we accept them and bring it to the Lord, these things become a cornerstone of our deeper relation with him.

I have written about Imperfect People, humans have made attempts, in their possible best way, to get rid of these imperfections as I did. The way to become perfect people in my imperfection, my emotionally stressful, was found and given by Jesus himself.

Each one has battle to fight, our inner demons; but the victory of Christ over the control of the Evil One, becomes the celebration of our incompleteness in Christ the Savior.

Our incompleteness, sufferings and pains, grief and sadness, which still perplex our earthly life can be overcome in the power of the Cross to the one who believe the freedom it entails.

We are bound to tread in deep waters of life, almost losing the strength to swim out of it, but the hand of God pulled us out if we seek his presence and waited for him. We may get depressed yet we cheer up again.

While we are here, we have to go through the ordeal of the earth before shredding our earthly nature as our life is sheltered in the abiding grace of the Lord God.

  2. Your conclusion that Jesus is the answer to all our circumstances and pain is so true. How high is our view of God? Do we see Him as small or bigger than anything we can or will face in life? May you always look upward dear brother and keep your eyes on Him. Blessings to you in the only name with power, Jesus.

    • Amen! We cannot make God smaller or bigger by our thoughts. He is the one – Alpha and Omega, and always same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Blessings to you too.
