Self-isolation; Quarantined

Up until today, there is no sign of the pandemic novel Coronavirus COVID-19 slowing down or disappearing since it is first reported in Wuhan, China. Most countries had quarantined people who tested positive for the said virus and instructing citizens for self-isolation as safety measures and if they have shown some signs of the virus.

Several countries around the world are partly or fully facing ‘lock down’ acting as an act to curb against the spread of the easily transmitted flu-like disease. For a moment, think about the world – there is conflict, war, epidemic, pandemic, etc. Then, how do you keep safe throughout your lifetime until now?

Yes, I understand you’ll have concerns to raise – your complaints or of others. Life doesn’t treat us fair sometimes. There is no escape from some kind of suffering that comes with a purpose. I’ve been through minimal part of it in my journey. Today, let’s look at the bigger picture.

Quarantined:

Quarantined or self-isolation is the word we find almost everywhere in the news bulletins: in printed or other media platforms. By definition, quarantined is isolation or detention imposed upon plants, animals, person, etc. when suspected of carrying infectious or contagious disease.

Now, back to our present situation, we are in an anxious time. There are many who are fighting mental health or giving each other the DIYs of staying safe and not panic due to news circulating in the media, which are pertaining to be rumors.

Since yesterday there are certain circulars in the State run hospital where my wife is working, my dear wife is a Registered Nurse in our country. As a family, we bowed before the Lord our God to work out what is best for us.

There must be some ways to waylaid this wayward COVID-19 as the researchers are still working on it. It is a crucial time to maintain good mental health, not spreading panic, yet putting our faith in our God. As a Christian – a believer in the power of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I wanted to share some of the ways to you:

Self-isolation:

Self-isolation by minimizing community interaction and social distancing is the talk of the town as I scanned through the newspaper this morning. It seems a far larger practice to achieve than it sounded because we are social beings. If I may say it so, it is a good time for hardworking people to take some time out to dwell on the word of God – stay in touch and in communion with him. In the healing power of the blood, there is a will to carry on.

In this chaos and tumultuous period of life, mentally and physically, we are safe by the grace of God!

Going a bit further, in the eyes of the world, ‘lock down’ in important cities and places is likely to hit the economy which will further worsen our road to recovery. It is nearer to the End and the signs told in Matthew 24 and Luke 21, you may read as pestilence included.

However, we are blessed as we can cast all our anxiety to the Lord. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

Save by the Blood:

Due to my neurological disorder, I have been perturbed by little things and circumstances in life. A simple nightmare, bad news, and a chain of thought easily hamper my living.

In these times of my anxious moments, I would bless the oil in my hand in the name of Lord Jesus Christ. Then I put it on the sides and tops of the door frames of our flat: the entrance, exit, and the windows while I walk-pray inside our room. I pray for no evil, bad news, plague, and the work of demon to enter our flat. We can wait for the ordained person from the church. However, if they are not easily available we can do it by ourselves if the spirit is with us,as did the Israelites in Egypt.

For me, this is the work of my faith. In the name of the Lord, I had forbidden the entry of people who could harm the atmosphere inside our home. It may seem ritualistic yet I only did it after preparing long asking for the Holy Spirit in my deeds.

And that’s how I self-defend or self-isolates myself and my family in testing times. In the same way, as instructed by the Lord God, the Israelites keep themselves safe from the angel of death during the Passover before their exodus from the land of the Egyptians.

Blood of the Lamb:

The killing of the lamb and putting the blood over the door frames and lentil is symbolic of the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ on the Cross for humankind. Let’s read from the Bible:

On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. (Exodus 12:12-13)

Now, in this time of destructive plague the number is still climbing. For us our safety is in the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ. Are you on the safe-zone; are you self isolated in the blood of Christ, today and forever? Most importantly, are you redeemed? Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb. The gate, for now, is open for all!

Quarantined Christians:

Before I end today’s post, I want to add a point for retrospection among the Christians. Some believers of Christ’s sacrificial work are quarantined their whole life unable to become contagious of the gospel. We are supposed to live a fearless living although we are prone to fall. Although not spreading fear, “Prepare to meet your God” (Amos 4:12, Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16)

Many of us are self-isolated for a long time. There is joy in fellowship with our brothers and sisters. We can find encouragement when we talk or share our problems. The holy spirit had quarantined us when we fall prey to any harm and release us again when we’re fit. We may fall yet we will rise again. And then only our strength and happiness become contagious.

In the end, dear readers all around the world I pray to my God that he will keep you safe throughout this destructive plague. I also pray our God will spare us a good time to toast the Unleavened Bread on Good Friday next month. Until then please

read Psalms 23,84,91 and abide in Christ.

Amid the pandemic virus, let us self-isolate in the unceasing power of the Holy Spirit. I pray bigger things will happen for you spiritually!

  1. These times are very enlightening in my opinion. You see whose who and who Trusts and has Faith God’s Got this! Know we have a protective hedge of Love all around us in these times. Also, take advantage of some self reflection during self isolation..it’s like an awareness sabbatical in which God can if allowed show you self improvement areas and some gifts and talents. Shalom!
