Bruised Before Healing

It is not painful, physically, most of the time. It simply is an IV bruised, for drawing blood samples or injections. The telltale color of black and blue lasting a few days at the IV site becomes a reminder of what had happened before. It really is nothing when the illness subsides. The bruise gets healed with time; I’m not trying to make a fuss out of it.

More often than we wanted to, as a person with chronical illness, we sometimes wake up or ended up with IV cannula being attached in part of our body. And, many times, it’ the only way to inject medicines leading us to the way of healing or at least stabilizing and progressing towards better results.

To simply let it known to you, it is irritating when the IV cannula is left over a period of time leaving the site inflamed and mildly painful. The feeling of experiencing it once in a while in the ER or anywhere for chronically ill person can give rise to certain thoughts around it.

Bruised – Not Fit For Offering:

Back in the days of Law, the Lord is very much clear on what should be offered to Him. Certain animals, which is bruised is listed among unacceptable offering for sacrifices. (Leviticus 22:24) We often perceive ourselves in this manner in our bruised living.

Now, here is the good news – the sacrifice of the Son of God had made me acceptable to him when I go to him, with me being bruised physically, mentally, and spiritually in his abiding grace. Could there be any greater love than this?

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

Now, in the blood of Christ our iniquities becomes our offering before him; no more bruised by sin permanently. We are bruised; but he is crushed to save us.

In my bruised living, there are instances where I am unable to see the upside of adversity. I am not dragging you in here. But someday somewhere in our phases of life, we got bruised – grieving, living with trauma, not feeling safe in one’s own house, some got tortured because of the gospel. Yet we are made whole again in the abiding grace of God.

Tower for the Bruised

The Lord is our refuge, only in Him, we can rise above adversity. He is the one who rescued us from being oppressed. Remembering the victories the Lord has given him, the Psalmist had expressed trustworthy is the Lord. Let me take you more to the petition of the Psalmist, which shows his faith in the living God:

My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly. I am bowed down and brought very low; all day long I go about mourning. My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body. I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart. Psalms 38:5-8.

When we feel our prayers were unanswered, trying to keep the hope alive in chronical illness, and seeking him with the little faith we had. The Lord really is a tower for the oppressed. Our faith may fluctuate or dangerously in diminishing form, the Lord has not forsaken us. Jehovah is a tower for the bruised, A tower for times of adversity. (Psalms 9:9 YLT)

Bruised But Not Broken:

Now coming back to where I began, the bruise marks that I talked about are simply to have a glance of the picture. We are made whole again in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ at Calvary’s cross. Lord Jesus Christ was beaten, bruised to the extent evil nature of humanity could do. Yet he is not broken. We did not talk of it but we felt bruised in our heart. The person nearest to us can hurt us yet we’re not fully broken because love conquers.

The purpose of his mission was never broken but making it louder, his gospel to humankind. We felt bruised, reeling under the pain; but I believe our Lord Jesus Christ had led us to discover more of purpose of our living. He is bruised but made perfect as before (Isaiah 42:1-4), bruised but not break.

Bruised Living:

In my bruised living, although I have tried it hard, it’s not easy to spend time without complaining. No, complaining is too much a word to describe it. Without uttering words of my suffering at times. Even in my prayer, sometimes I’m afraid God wouldn’t be pleased with me. But the Lord is merciful, and I’m riding on his grace and mercy.

Anyway, to tell you the truth, possessing a good attitude in being moody a person I was, it’s an arduous task. However, looking at the suffering of Jesus Christ he seldom utters a word throughout his suffering. He went through the crushing process in silence.

Are you bruised in the heart? We are prone to get cut and bruised in relationships; yet the healing power of God led us to get over circumstances, which would be impossible without the help of the Holy Spirit. By being with us in his abiding grace, we get healed with his stripes suffered for humankind.

Bruised to Healing:

Again, simple bruise in the IV site healed with time, yet if it persists for longer rubbing ice sometimes helps although it should be at the advice of a registered medical practitioner. Bruised because of sin needs to taken to the cross. It’s hard living with sin; it’s better seek forgiveness through the sacrificial work Christ to the Father.

I do sincerely believe we’d be bruised or crushed until we can become a blessing to other people. And, if the Lord is with us through the process of crushing, the days will soon passed with him; yet living in a prayer requesting not to past us. The privilege from God is from being bruised to healing; and healing to blessing!

There are certain things although not worthy of mentioning I had now performed, which otherwise would have been not on my slightest thought in the abiding grace of God. May you get healed in Jesus name!

Made Whole Again:

Are you bruised? Come to Jesus
His whole body was bruised for us
He understands more than anyone
Is your heart getting bruised today
Our Savior is made whole again
Everything is in Lord Jesus
He will make you whole again

It is normal to get bruised, they say
Yes it can be someone other than me
Yet I’m glad it’s a privileged living
The hope of getting healed again
Makes my heart glow inside me
He fainted, bruised, crushed for us
Only for us to get healed forever
Made whole again in his crushing
Raise in his whole body again;
Being risen as it was promised

The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.”
