Bigger Than You

“I am bigger than you dad!”

“Yes, bigger than you,” giggled my child happily as I lift her above my head.

I am happy I did it. As far as it makes them happy I will do it. The time may come when I will not be able to do it if they grow well.

When we were a little child, we wanted to be BIG. There are many things we would like to do once we became big. Yet when we were grown-up we cherished our younger days.

Sometimes it’s hard to digest every little aspect of life. And we wanted to do what we cannot; undermining what we had in our hand in the present situation.

Here, let’s look at some of the perspectives of life.

Not Bigger Than Our Creator:

In this age we have the privilege of learning, earning, and growing in a very advanced manner. If we are in a position to invest well in a good discipline of learning, we gained wisdom. In that way, we can gain wealth if we are at the right time, right place, and with the right decision.

However, success could easily divert our minds to being projecting ourselves as bigger than people around us. And at times even bigger than our Creator.

For Christians, King Solomon, by making the best choice being offered to him by God, is the wisest and wealthiest person on earth.( 1 Kings 3) However, his conclusion of living a pompous, splendor, and grandeur life, here is his conclusion:

I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 1:14)

Bigger than You:

Almost everything or everyone wanted to project themselves as being bigger than you and us.

This year, 2020, has another ‘add-ons’ to our life in several ways. For some, it makes our living more difficult. But for some, they benefitted spiritually taking the way closer to God.

In this time of difficulty, even some of the spiritual person is tempted to be ahead of others. They spew words of wisdom coming from their head in their quest for being ahead of others, which in turn causes damage to them and people around them.

Countries wanted to be bigger/superior in the hunt for curing the new disease. In the higher or another arena, it becomes a virtual battle of the advanced countries. The result is awaited although with damages and more casualties expected.

Our Problems – Not Bigger than us:

It is a known fact that everyone has their problems. Yet not everyone faces it the same way nor did they talk about it more often. I don’t know if I’m talking too much about my problems, like an old lady. Yet since I started this site, I have talked more about it in the hope that it might have a positive impact on someone like me.

In that sense, when we talk more of our problems to Jesus Christ, He lifted our burden and with his yoke, it becomes lighter.

Here it is interesting to note that problems of any kind are NOT bigger than us if we fight with the power of the Holy Spirit who indwells in us.

Bigger than Anyone:

The disciples follow someone who they have high hope with even in their tiniest faith. Our in-born or natural instinct of wanting to be big comes into play. They asked him who is the greatest, in other words the biggest, in the kingdom of God.

Here is the answer from Jesus Christ:

“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. (Matthew 18:1-5)

Obviously, those who did not received his name tries proving God does not existed. And that implies they wouldn’t enter his kingdom. For them there’s no one bigger than them and their tiny self-acquired knowledge. The humblest would be the biggest in the kingdom of God.

In the end here are important points to remember:

We cannot be bigger than God who lifts us up. Let us strive hard to be bigger; yet not bigger than God.
Our problems, of any kind, cannot be bigger than the authority of God. Take comfort, have peace in your heart with him as your guide.

In the present situation of Covid-19 pandemic, remember that God is bigger than everything. Without his knowledge, nothing is happening in the universe.

God is in Control! Isaiah 41:10
